Not Enough Time?

Balancing all of the things that an average teenager has to handle can be extremely difficult and stressful. Teens have school, sports, social lives and other things to make time for, and they are all important aspects to becoming a healthy, well-rounded person. Sometimes, it can be especially hard to keep up with everything at once, and life can get super overwhelming.

I understand this struggle on a personal level, managing honors classes on top of school and club soccer. However, over the years, I’ve come up with a few tips and tricks that make my life a little easier when it comes to time management:

  1. Keep a checklist of goals you need to accomplish each week – A calendar or list will keep you organized and up to date on tasks, particularly schoolwork.
  2. Prioritize your tasks – Ask yourself the following questions: When does this need to be finished? How important is it?
  3. Set a period of time to work without distractions – Many people struggle to finish their work due to outside distractions. Creating a time and space to focus purely on productivity will help you!
  4. Take short breaks in between tasks – Nobody can work forever and still produce quality material. It’s important to allow yourself to breathe every once in a while!
  5. Start things ahead of time – Don’t procrastinate! It’s cliché, yes, but it’s truly one of the best tips anyone could give you.
  6. Plan for the unexpected – Everyone has been in a situation where their schedule is thrown off track because of an unplanned event. What’s the solution, you ask? Plan for this to happen! You’ll have the time to spare, and if nothing pops up, you’ve earned yourself some free time.

Above all, try to keep yourself calm, even when things feel like they’re falling apart. Take a deep breath and focus on one thing at a time. Being a teenager is stressful. Embrace it!
